Protect Me

Looking at the night sky

feeling the dark, cold breeze.

I listen for your voice

coming through the air

trying to protect me.

It is so dark and barren out here.

The thick air makes it hard to breath.

Makes the skin sweat

and the focus dizzy.

Hold my spirit, protect me.

People in disguise

whispering that they

have your best intentions at heart,

grabbing your hand

promising all you want

while giggling, sinisterly internally.

See them and protect me.

Memories of death

enclose around me.

Sorrow and sadness

take over my soul.

The vultures can smell it.

Give me strength, protect me.

It is like pieces of me

are a bit broken inside.

The demons I battle see this

where I may not be as strong.

Know in silence

that you are there.

Hold me, protect me.
