An abstract poem on the theme Exploration

Back and Forth:

all this while i had been oscillating 

a disoriented pendulum gone ashtray

counting and discounting time

days came and went by

in the haze of a make believe heaven

that was never enough to fill the glass

all this while they kept telling me

slow down or you’ll surely reach hell

faster than a true sinner

who is a sinner then

what it means to be correct

one who lived for himself

one who did not live enough

one who tasted the forbidden

one whose tongue feared taste

all breathed in heaven and hell

all perished in the elements

i slowed down in the end, knowing 

hell and heaven are two sides

of the same old story 

going back and forth through thin air

it’s all about the flip of fingers tossing

the coin and on which side it lands
