Tariffs vs. Trump

A Trump flag hoisted on your lawn?

Really?

Still?

It’s not a question

I can answer,

but it’s one

you won’t answer.

Will your Trump flag

stop tariffs from

hurting the poor?

The country America

puts tariffs on

doesn’t pay the tax.

The American importer

pays the tariff,

and most often pass

the cost to consumers

by increasing prices.

That is just a fact

that your Trump flag

won’t wave away.

There’s a reason economists

endorsed Harris,

not that you have to like

her,

but reciprocal tariffs will hurt

the U.S., too.

France and Canada are musing

business with other countries

because of the tariffs

that also hurts American companies.

But wave your Trump flag.

30,000 people lost their government jobs,

but I guess that Trump flag makes everything

better.

Just this morning, companies

announced layoffs, citing the tariffs.

Tariffs are neither good nor bad;

they are a tool.

But these blanket tariffs

won’t bring back manufacturing;

it’ll just make life more expensive.

But go ahead, wave your Trump flag.
